Strontium hexaboride (SrB6)
Strontium hexaboride  Molecular formula: SrB6  Molecular weight: 152.49  Melting point: 2235 ℃  Density: 3.39 grams per cubic centimeter  Water solubility: insoluble  Appearance: Black crystalline powder or solid  Properties: Strontium boride (SrB6) is an inorganic compound with high melting point, high strength, and high chemical stability. Many of them also have special functionalities, such as low electronic work function, constant specific resistance, zero thermal expansion value within a certain temperature range, different types of magnetic order, and high neutron absorption coefficient  Application: SrB6 and its composite materials are used as high-temperature insulators, control rods for nuclear reactors, and other fields. Strontium boride is a hard, high melting point metallic material. They are resistant to non oxidizing acids, but degrade in strong oxidants and alkalis. They are used in semiconductors, superconductors, diamagnetism, paramagnetism, ferromagnetism, antiferromagnetism, turbine blades, and rocket nozzles. Has superconductivity and ultra incompressibility.

Product details
Strontium hexaboride (SrB6)

strontium boride

Density: 3.39 g/mL at 25 º C (lit.)

Melting point: 2235 º C

Molecular formula: B6Sr

Molecular weight: 152.48600

Accurate quality: 153.96100

Appearance: Black crystalline powder

Properties: Strontium hexaboride (SrB6) is a black crystalline powder at room temperature, very stable, with a high melting point and high density.

Preparation method:

1) Mix the metal Sr and the calculated amount of amorphous B and heat them to red heat, and the two elemental phases will combine to obtain.

2) Mix SrO (1mol), B2O3 (2mol), and SrF6 (1mol) evenly in a graphite crucible at 1000 ℃, melt, and heat for 2-3 hours. Use a crucible as the anode and a carbon rod as the cathode in the melt pool for electrolysis at a current of 20A and 6.5V. The cooled melt is washed multiple times with dilute and concentrated HCl to remove impurities.

Purpose:

Strontium and boron are two important glass additives that can enhance the physical properties of glass, increase its seismic and heat resistance.

SrB6 and its composite materials are used as high-temperature insulators, control rods for nuclear reactors, and other fields.

3. Used for semiconductors, superconductors, diamagnetism, paramagnetism, ferromagnetism, antiferromagnetism, turbine blades, rocket nozzles, etc

Packaging and storage:

This product is packaged with inert gas and anti-static properties. It should be sealed and stored in a dry and cool environment. It should not be exposed to air for a long time to prevent moisture and aggregation, which may affect its dispersibility and effectiveness.
